HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Experience has taught me that the very best results for any of the above problems have been achieved by combining a variety of different Massage and Manual Therapy Techniques, Restorative Movement Exercises and simple in home Hydrotherapy applications. This is known as Integrative Therapy and here are the techniques that I find the most effective…

Myofascial Release – MFR

Myofascial release is a unique, whole body approach to manual therapy, which focuses on the entire connective tissue (fascial) system. It can successfully treat long standing chronic pain, postural problems and movement restriction/discomfort that resist other conventional treatments. The therapist works with the client’s fascia, like a sculptor, to find and release the specific areas that are the causes of these problems and thus, allow the body to restore itself to a healthy state.

Muscle Energy Technique – MET

Muscle Energy Technique is a gentle, non-invasive and very effective form of Neuromuscular Therapy. It relieves pain and restores full range of motion to spinal and pelvic joints, which can be restricted due to shortening and spasm of the surrounding muscles. The therapist uses the natural reflexes within the muscle itself to release spasm and excessive tension and allow the joint to move freely. The results are immediate, long lasting and verifiable through reassessment.

MyoRhythmic Release – PMRR

This innovative approach to soft tissue treatment is renowned for its patient/therapist comfort, efficiency and effectiveness. It combines rhythmical mobilization, passive range of motion, trigger point therapy and stretch. MRR blends my experience as a professional dancer with my scientific training in kinesiology and biomechanics. It allows deep tissue release, prevents tissue damage and discomfort and teaches the client to associate decreased tension and pain with healthy and natural movement patterns.

Craniosacral Therapy – CST

This profoundly effective, gentle and relaxing technique is a close relative to Myofascial Release that focuses primarily on the deepest connective tissue membranes that cover the cranium, brain and spinal cord. It is particularly recommended for injuries to the head, spine and tailbone, chronic neck and back pain, TMJ, migraines, sinusitis, memory problems, chronic fatigue and fibromylagia.

Strain/Counterstrain – S/CS

Also know as Positional Release, this simple and completely painless technique is perfect for acute injuries such a whiplash, nerve impingement, herniated discs and chronic conditions of tight and spasm muscles that resist release with direct pressure. The therapist places the patient is a very specific position that removes all tension from the problematic muscle and holds this for 90 seconds, then gently lengthens the muscle for a long lasting and profound correction.

Manual Lymphatic Therapy – MLD

This unique manual therapy stimulates the function of the lymphatic system, which, in turn, maintains the body’s fluid balance, cleanses the body of toxins and guarantees a healthy immune system. It reduces post injury swelling, water retention, chronic sinusitis and bronchitis, while it promotes detoxification, anti-aging and faster wound healing. Through its rhythmical application it also encourages deep relaxation to relieve insomnia, chronic stress and digestive complaints.

Personalized Restorative Exercise and Self-Care Training

To get off the treadmill of recurring pain and to enjoy the maximum benefits from any of these powerful and effective therapy techniques, it is very important that each client take an active role in their own care between visits.
